Space Shuttle Endeavour Transport
Plump Engineering was selected to engineer the retired Space Shuttle Endeavour's Final Mission; a 12 mile, 2 day journey from Los Angeles International Airport, through the city streets to its new home at the California Science Center.
The combined weight of the shuttle and the transport vehicle totaled approximately 500,000 pounds. This heavy load move posed a potential risk to the city's infrastructure. Plump Engineering. was retained to investigate the impact of the heavy load on the city's roadways, sewers and storm drains throughout the entire 12 mile route. The goal was to create a detailed Logistics and Transportation Plan to insure that the weight did not damage the underground utilities during transport. |

South Coast Plaza, located in Orange County California is internationally known as one of the crown jewels of shopping on the west coast and in the summer of 2011, it became the newest location for the popular apparel company, Forever XXI.
The retailer took over 43,000 square feet of an existing Sears to create their 2 story flagship store. Plump Engineering was hired to engineer the elaborate two story exterior façade, the installation of new escalators and the elevator foundation in an existing building. This involved structural engineers at Plump Engineering strategically designing a plan for cutting a large opening in the concrete flat slab at the grade level, engineering the new concrete foundation in the below grade level of the stores lower level and reinforcing the new openings on the two story building. |

340-ton stone megalith — on its remarkable spring journey from a quarry outside Riverside to mid-city L.A.
Plump Engineering addressed the infrastructure along the entire route and transport of a 340-ton stone as part of the vision of artist Michael Heizer. The journey began at an a quarry outside Riverside and continued to the heart of the city of Los Angeles, ending on Wilshire Blvd at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art LACMA.

 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified each building as sustainable and energy efficient stores.
 Plump Engineering designed the prototype for the Fresh and Easy Stores and was the architect of record for any changes made to the designs. As LEED Certified Architects, the prototype stores includes skylights and oversized windows to bring in more natural light; and our overhead lights automatically dim when there is enough natural light to save energy. |
